The jury of one of Hungary’s leading business magazines, Figyelö, has named Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Budapest “Company of the Year” 2019 at its annual TOP200 gala. According to the expert jury, the company has displayed an outstanding performance in terms of investments and innovation.

Improving traffic safety: Kiepe Electric to equip trams in Hanover with collision avoidance systems

  • Kiepe Electric to retrofit collision avoidance systems with components from Bosch Engineering to 50 light rail vehicles (LRVs) run by Hanover mass transit operator
  • Radar and camera sensors scan the area in front of the vehicle
  • Driver assistance system warns the driver and activates the brakes if a collision is imminent

Kiepe Electric, a subsidiary of Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking systems and a leading supplier of other rail and commercial vehicle subsystems, has won an order from Hanover mass transit operator ÜSTRA to equip 50 light rail vehicles with collision avoidance systems. Following a successful field trial of a vehicle fitted with the system, further TW3000 vehicles are due to be retrofitted in 2020.

Ready to roam the Land of the Great Steppe: Knorr-Bremse to service braking systems of Alstom locomotive fleet in Kazakhstan

  • Knorr-Bremse Russia and Alstom Kazakhstan have signed a comprehensive 25-year service agreement for up to 200 double-section freight locomotives and 95 passenger locomotives in Kazakhstan
  • The service agreement was signed in Berlin on occasion of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to the German capital
  • By providing brake equipment and servicing, Knorr-Bremse will help connect major cities and serve international trade routes in the world’s ninth-largest country – bolstering faster, safer and more reliable transport of goods and passengers

Knorr-Bremse, the world’s leading manufacturer of braking systems and supplier of additional subsystems for rail and commercial vehicles, has signed a comprehensive service agreement with Alstom. Until 2051, Knorr-Bremse’s RailServices unit will maintain the brake systems of up to 200 double-section freight locomotives and 95 passenger locomotives operated by Kazakhstan’s national railway company KTZ. The collaboration will help to strengthen the 2.7 million square-kilometer Central Asian country’s burgeoning role as a cross-continental hub for rail traffic.

Knorr-Bremse AG firmly on track after nine months: sales and profitability up further

  • Outlook for the 2019 fiscal year confirmed: Sales of between EUR 6,875m and EUR 7,075m, operating EBITDA margin of between 18.5% and 19.5%
  • Further growth: Group sales increase by 6.4% to EUR 5,313m from January to September 2019
  • Increased profitability: Operating EBITDA margin of 18.8% vs. 17.9% in prior-year period
  • High inflow of money: Operating cash flow increases by 71.1% to EUR 554m

Industry 4.0: Hungarian Minister for Innovation and Technology visits Kecskemét-based Knorr-Bremse Fékrendszerek Kft. on the Night of Modern Factories

On Friday November 15, the Hungarian Minister for Innovation and Technology, Dr. László Palkovics, officially opened the Night of Modern Factories at Knorr-Bremse Fékrendszerek Kft. in Kecskemét. As part of this series of events themed around Industry 4.0, Knorr-Bremse showcased key tools including its “cobots”, collaborative robots that support more efficient utilization of production equipment.

Modernization by Kiepe Electric: Low-floor trams on mass-transit duty in Schwerin ready for at least another 20 years

The city’s 15-year-old fleet will undergo a retrofit of its electrical equipment and HVAC systems.

Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake expands wheel-end manufacturing facility in response to continued strong US demand for air disc brakes

  • Double digit million dollar investment in its state-of-the-art Bowling Green wheel-end plant

Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC (BSFB) recently broke ground on a 130,000-square-foot expansion of its wheel-end manufacturing facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA. The addition to the existing BSFB plant will allow for increased air disc brake production capacity to keep pace with accelerating customer demand in North America. BSFB is a joint venture between Knorr-Bremse US subsidiary Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, and Dana Commercial Vehicle Products, LLC.

Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking systems and a leading supplier of other subsystems for rail and commercial vehicles, today signed an agreement regarding the sale of its Powertech business unit to Munich-based Radial Capital Partners (RCP). Closing will take place immediately after the agreement is signed.
